Google is currently giving away $100 of free advertising thru their Google Adwords program.

Several weeks ago I signed The Fields Church up, and did $100 worth of advertising.

I did a local champaign that was only directed towards those within 18 miles of Mattoon.
For the $100 we had almost 40,000 ad impressions.
Impressions are the number of times the ad loaded on a page.
Our ads loaded on pages where Google search users searched for specific keywords. (ie Mattoon Church, Charleston Church, Kids Ministry, Youth Ministry, Kids Program, ect)
Also our ad appeared in YouTube videos and iOS apps.

The ads were linked to our website, and were clicked over 60 times.

So for $100, our name appeared 40,000 times, and drove 60 people to our website. Not bad.

How to get $100 free of Google Adwords

1. Sign up for Google Adwords.
2. Edit your billing preferences. Google Adwords charge $5 to your credit card to start your account. Then once they give you the $100, they give you back the $5.
3. After about 2 or 3 hours, your “Customer ID” will appear.

4. Once your Customer ID appears, call Google Adwords 1.800.848.9256 to get your $100 coupon code.

I’ve heard of Merlin Mann and his “Inbox Zero” idea for a couple of years, but I finally sat down and looked over his site, and watched his presentation of the idea to Google.
Why?
Because I’ve got over 250 emails sitting in my inbox screaming at me.

Merlin gives a good plan on how to deal with your email, by processing each email by doing one of the following.

Choose one action to do on each email

Delete
or create a single folder called “archive” that you throw it into.

Delegate
Forward it to someone else.

Respond
Get it out and do something with it as quick as possible.

Defer
Answer it later. Put it in a folder called “Respond”

Do it
Put it on your calendar, to do list or wherever. Just get it out of your inbox.

You can check out Merlin’s original Inbox Zero presentation that he gave at Google. It’s about an hour long, but so worth it. Watch video.

At The Fields Church we feel that Easter, is an opportunity for us to tell the greatest story of humanity.
I don’t think anybody would disagree.
Easter is when churches have the largest crowds.

Our question each year has been, “Are we reaching new people?
Or is it just a Sunday when everybody ‘shows up’?”
The greatest marketing tool that the church has, it peer 2 peer.
Yet, only 2% of attenders people invite someone to church in a given year.
That means 98% of attenders never invite anyone to hear the greatest story of humanity. – Thom Rainer – The Unchurched Next Door

Is it because they don’t care others?
No, I genuinely believe they do, they just don’t know how to invite.
So, as a church, we looked at how we could help our attenders to invite others.
What can we do as a church to help them invite their family and friends?
82% of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if invited.

Our theme for Easter this year is “Rescue.”
We’ve created “Medic Kits”.
Cute right.
Two weeks before Easter our families will receive these “Medic Kits,” which are an envelope that will include items to promote Easter, and to provide offline tools for them to invite their family and friends.

Front
