Last night I had a great opportunity to tweetup with two incredible worship leaders. Carlos Whittaker & John Mark McMillan.

Carlos Whittaker is an avid blogger (website), and recently signed with Integrity Music. He recently released his first LP in April called Ragamuffin Soul.
You can pick it up for $7.99

John Mark McMillan is a singer/songwriter and penned the lyrics, “sloppy wet kiss.” Listen to the song here. John Mark released a new album in July called The Medicine.
You can pick it up for $9.99

They are part of “The Worship Tour” with with Jeremy Camp, and stopped in Champaign for a day off. Trailer for tour.
Travis and I rushed in 30 minutes late into a brightly lit Borders to find 6 to 7 people sitting in a circle with Carlos and John Mark.
These two guys are the real deal. Friendly. Honest. Our 30 minutes with them flew by.

I wanted to pass along a couple of thoughts they shared tonight.

  • Worship leaders need to be connected to those they are leading off of the stage, just not by strumming a guitar.
  • Maybe your church needs to think small, instead of big.
  • Authenticity in staff relationships is vital for church growth.
  • Duct taped services may actually reach more people than shiny ones.
