the other day, we had a conversation at a place i work - it's a mostly christian organization - and we were talking about professional ethics. some people seemed to think that professional ethics always need to be subordinate to personal ethics, some people went more the other way. one of the guys who lean more towards using personal ethics as a guide said that jesus would have never consulted an ethics guide so in doubt he will always go with WWJD. another person countered that we're not asked to be like jesus, and look what happened to jesus anyway!

that's not my opinion. even as a non-christian (not in the currently used north american sense anyway), i strongly believe that we can rarely go wrong with asking ourselves what jesus would have done in any given situation.

because everything IS, well, spiritual. i know it's an awkward word, i really struggle with it but it's a shorthand way of speaking that works more often that it does not.

all of that reminds me, too, of the old saying, "the personal is politics and the political is personal". the personal is spiritual is political.

Given what he's done so far, I'm thinking he's building up to it. If we take Everything is Spiritual, follow it with The Gods Aren't Angry (which does, I think, address the nature of Christ's Sacrifice on the Cross) and ask ourselves "what's next?" there's a clear progression - and I would hope that whatever is next is the next step on the journey leading to the Gospels.

Although I could be wrong - we'll have to see what his next book and tour say.

I just personally don't understand why any preacher would shy away from the Gospel. Doesn't make any sense to me. At all.

Loved It, Saw "The Gods Aren't Angry" Live - if you think he's good on film, he's AMAZING in person.

And unlike Elgin, I've got my DVD for TGAA on pre-order, and can't wait to re-watch it.

Haven't seen that, but I watched a bootlegged "The God's Aren't Angry". Bell talks about everything from creation to today, yet completely skips the Gospel (Jesus' Death, resurrection, and new life through him). I like Bell, but it was quite disturbing.
