Andy did a Q&A with Reggie Joiner.
It was hard to take notes.
We have far more in common with non-Christians than what we don’t have in common.
If you create irresistible environments for people, people come.
#1 cause of poverty in America. Is divorce.
People have to get to a point where they become a self-feeder.
Everybody’s stories include 5 elements.
Practical Teaching – recognize some sort of spiritual truth
Providential Relationships – some person was in their life
Private Disciplines – learn how to have a quiet time
Pivotal Circumstances – something that cuts the legs off of their faith, or increases their faith.
Personal Ministry – somebody challenged to serve the church.

I would argue the assertion that the #1 cause of poverty is divorce. There are lots of married people who are poor. To give one root cause that is social rather than economical is ludicrous. It ignores the countless other factors. Here is a shortlist of things causing poverty:
-Physical disabilty
-High medical costs
-Job outsourcing
-Mental Illness
-Substance abuse
-Limitd job oppurtunities in the local area
As humans we want simple solutions. As Christians we blame sin for bad things. So as a human Christians, we blame one sinful thing for the ills of our nation.
No public prayer in school + grunge/ heavy metal music = school shootings
The issue of poverty is far more complex than this one single social problem. Divorce is perhaps one of the myriad of causes, but by all means it does not top the list.

to respond to anonymous! Andy did not say those reasons were reasons as well. He would not say something definitive unless he has researched it. If you look, divorce would be the #1 cause of poverty in the context of what he was talking about. Which doesn’t mean it is the only reason. But it is often the most common reason.
I hear andy every week as a member of North Point Community Church. i assure you he was not making a general blanket statement and if he was he has researched it first.
Anything can be taken out of context.
