Yesterday, I stopped by the Circle K to get a 32oz Polar Ice for my marathon of meetings that some call Monday. At the register, I saw the cover story on the Journal Gazette. I noticed the cover photo…
…and i got a sick feeling in my stomach.
The caption under the photo says the soldier puts the cross in the window of his Humvee before going on patrol.
This wasn’t the real punch in the gut for me.
I could look past that.
The title above the photo said “The Other Price Paid in Iraq”, I was excited.
Thinking Finally, someone is going to publish not just American & Coalition deaths, but Iraqi soldiers, insurgents, and civilian casualties.
So I quickly flipped past the fold and doh! Its not about casualties, but $$.
Disappointing.

The other price paid in Iraq is that due to the undermining efforts of the liberals and the main stream media, the war has gone on longer than it should and has been undermined by their treasonous efforts. This is the primary reason the war has been going on as long as it has, it is due to the rhetoric and defeatist attitude. This has emboldened the enemy and given them sustenance to continue on. The liberals love to hate Bush, and even if it means soldiers have to die and even if it means promoting what’s gone wrong in Iraq, rather than what has gone right. This is what they publish and promote. They are the terrorist’s cheerleaders, as they want America to fail in Iraq, especially if it makes President Bush look bad. The soldiers know they have made a difference in Iraq, they see it everyday. They know that the liberal media will not show these accomplishments as it is contrary to their agenda. As most of you know that are reading this article a I am an Operation Iraq Veteran. I to believe that there are many stories not being told in Iraq. But I do know that there is a price to war that a lot of people do not like. I could tell many stories of American and Iraqi lives that were lost and they are all unfortunate, but do not think for a minute that we can stand in front of the youth today and say that we don’t believe in our leadership. When we are hopefully try to teach them the very opposite. Just my side of this thats all.
Book title is intriguing, give us a review when you’re done with it.

I don’t know what you mean by that. Why wouldn’t a soldier keep a reminder of his faith with him? He needs his faith to get him through the trials and decisions he’ll have to face that day. I hope all our soldiers would take crosses/crucifixes with them. They are in a tough spot and need to keep the love of Jesus in their thoughts.
Good stuff Evan. Too many of us are just happy it isn’t us that are getting killed. I hear it said all the time, “well, at least it’s over there.”
